Webinar on Stock Market
An interactive session was organized on Stock Markets, on 21st August 2021. The guest speaker of the session was Mr. Venkata Sri Harsha, Founder, MD & CEO of Shine Projects, is a qualified stock market analyst as well as a specialist in macroeconomics. As Students being the beginners in investing, learnt even a small investment, if made properly can reap huge profits in the future and can act as a source of regular income. The session enriched every attendee with the world of the stock markets.
Alumni Interaction- Believe in Possibilities
The Department of Commerce organized an alumni interaction on 28 August 2021 on ‘Believe in Possibilities’. The speaker of the session was Mr. Lakshaya Arora (Batch 2015-2017), Youtuber and Podcaster - Pink City Podcast (First Podcast Channel in Jaipur). The session focused on believing in one’s own potential and possibilities of touching the sky. Mr. Arora shared his philosophy of achieving the possibilities that one should know which game they are choosing, and how they are playing and reaching the top by learning the game. The valuable insights and experiences shared by Mr. Lakshya Arora helped students to believe in achieving the out of reach possibilities. He also mentioned that one should think out of the box in order to survive in today’s competitive world. The session was informative and interactive which motivated the students to work in the direction of achieving what they are aiming at.
Alumni Interaction- Balance is the key to success
An online Alumni Interaction Session was organized on the topic “Balance is the Key to Success” on 29th September 2021. The session was addressed by Ms. IRAVADI SHARMA currently employed as Tax Consultant, Deloitte, Hyderabad. She graduated with a Bachelor of Commerce from St. Xavier's College in 2018 and also bagged the title of Xavierite of the year in 2018. She talked about various dimensions of life varying from inner strength and perseverance to career and life as we see it. The entire college went down the memory lane to share experiences laced with nostalgia on how Xavier's College groomed them in academics and inculcated values that helped cement their successful careers.
Banking Conclave
Indian Banking Scenario: The road Ahead in Nation Building
The commerce club of the Department of Commerce took one step further in this direction by organizing the first edition of the banking conclave on October 18, 2021. The event was centered on the theme of “Indian Banking Scenario: Student moderators, greeted the esteemed panelists, Dr Thangeraja, Mr Tanuj Poddar and Dr R Latha. The attendees were first introduced to the Indian banking system and how it has fared through time. The panelists discussed the same with the effect they had on the end users and how they have been coerced into adapting with the digitized world, be it for the better or for worse. The curtains came down on the enthralling session after an expansive Q and A session with the moderators and panelists.
Industrial Visit:
Bella Casa Ltd.
The Department of Commerce organized an industrial visit of 47 students to Bella Casa Fashion and Retail Ltd, situated in the Sitapura Industrial Area. It established in the year 1957, which has garnered a name for itself over the years, in the retail industry. Formulated to fulfil desires of comfort and luxury, it has seamlessly amalgamated traditional and modern contemporary characters into the finest bedding textiles. Students were briefed about the firm’s business plans, which combined the pursuit of profit with unrivalled quality.. As the visit progressed, the students toured through the numerous divisions such as manufacturing, design, assembly and dispatch all whilst querying the moderators about the functioning of the same. The visit came to a close with an expansive Q&A session with the CEO of Bella Casa, Mr Saurav Gupta, he tethered with the students to the importance of commerce to the nation at large as well as answered questions about his domain of work, leaving the students in awe of his eloquence and knowledge.

Each year we look forward to an intriguingly brilliant event of ideating and sharing at the ’ENVISION X VENDESTO’, an event organized by the Department of Commerce in collaboration with the Department of Management. The event then segued in an awe-inspiring talk show by the chief guests and our speakers for the day to exchange dialogues on the topic, “The event was a great success where more than 1500 participants enthusiastically took part from many prestigious colleges across the nation. More than 15 events were part of this fest which allowed the participants to keep a high level of mind and maintain a great sense of camaraderie. Some of the sublime and scintillating nits and grits were Corporate Roadies, Squiz Games, XPL, Banter on Bow, Recruitedia, MOM and a few others. The Overall Winners Trophy was awarded to J.K Laxmipath University wherein the Trophy for College with Maximum Participation was secured by JECRC University.

ROLE OF INVESTMENT BANKING IN INDIAN ECONOMY
A webinar was organized on the topic “The Role of Investment Banking in Indian Economy" on 4th December, 2021. The main objective of this session is to provide students with the necessary theoretical and conceptual tools used in investment banking and general understanding of investment banking activities and the mechanics and financial analysis required to value, negotiate and successfully close transactions. Mr. Ashish Kaw, Regional Head, Imarticus Learning, resource person talked about various aspects of Investment Banking especially lucrative for those students who are pursuing a career in investment banking.

CONSUMER RIGHTS AND RECENT DEVELOPMENTS
A webinar was organized by the Xavier’s Consumer Club in association with the Department of Commerce, on the topic “Consumer Rights & Recent Developments" in view of National Consumer Day on 24th December, 2021 at 11 am. The main objective of this session is to spread awareness and realization among students about their duties and responsibilities as Citizens of India .The session was taken by Dr. Anju Gahlot, Former Principal, Department of Law, University of Rajasthan & Member of International Lawyers Association, London. She talked about various consumer rights and the ways in which one can seek redressal if required. She also threw light on the recent developments in this direction. The event graciously dropped its curtain after a wholesome question-answer session.

STARTUP VALUATION OF UPCOMING CHAMPIONS
Department of Commerce, St.Xaviers College- Jaipur organized a webinar on "Startups- Valuation of Upcoming Champions" with an expert speaker CA Harsha Ramnani on Thursday, 13th January, 2021.She briefed the participants about what are the basic needs to launch a startup and how important it is for any developing country. She was interested with the participants and also enhanced their knowledge on how the valuation of start-ups is really important. Then the emcees declared the floor open for queries and the participants asked their queries to the speakers.
Two Day taxation Workshop Titled ‘Tax Legislation: Basics & Beyond’
An active and informed community supports diffusion and dissemination by encouraging discord and discussions, essential to the growth. The Department of Commerce organized a two-day workshop, on the 28th-29th of January, indulging in such dialogues and discussion titled ‘Tax Legislation: Basics and Beyond.’ The resource person for the first day, CA Paresh Gupta, initiated the session on ‘Start-ups and Tax Exemption’. He focused on the new tax reforms for the startups and imparted the knowledge of the tax laws and systems pertaining to the various markets as well as to explore various techniques in tax planning. . With uniform enthusiasm, the workshop continued to day two. The resource person for day two was Dr Dilip Gupta, who acquainted the students with ‘Return Filing’, venturing into the empirical aspect of taxation. He also emphasized on filing returns as an annual activity including moral and social duty of every responsible citizen of the country.

Add On Course- Tally Prime with GST
To Bridge the gap between theory and practical learning the department has started the Add-on course on Tally. This course has enabled students to understand the accounting through Tally software. This is so widely used that it has become important for the students seeking jobs in the finance department to learn Tally to the advanced level This course was open for all the streams. 15 students have successfully completed it. It was conducted by Shree Ram Tally Academy. The students were awarded certificates for this.

Bridge Course
The department offers a bridge course in Basic Accountancy for non-commerce background students. The main objective of this course is to bring non-commerce students at par with those who had accounts in 12th standard. This will help non-commerce students to have a basic understanding of the accounting concepts before their regular classes begin. This course enables the study of basic accounts and applying them to business theory in general. It aims to provide the accounting foundations necessary for business, and finance. It will help in mastering basic concepts of financial and business accounting.
