To welcome the newbies to the department of Commerce, the Orientation Programme ‘Building Better Beginnings ‘for the session 2022-2023 was conducted on 14 September, 2022. Through a PowerPoint presentation, students were illuminated about the department activities such as Envision x Vendesto, Industrial Visits, Career Sessions, Expert Lectures, Alumni sessions, Banking Conclave etc. Dr Mahua Bose, Head of Department introduced the faculty members and emphasized on hands-on learning and partake of a high-quality education to be career-ready.

Continuing the unceasing legacy of Xavier’s; The Department of Commerce organized an Alumni Interactive session “Diamonds Are Forever and So Is Our Bond” on 30th September 2022, in the college auditorium so as to make the current students aware about the proficient world. The event was honored by the words of Mr. Anirudh Singh Raghav (Batch of 2017) Advocate, Rajasthan High Court, Jaipur, Ms. Krati Saxena (Batch of 2016) Solution Advisor inDeloitte USI and Nakul Singh (Batch of 2016) Head of Learning & Development Burger Farm India Pvt. Ltd.

On October 13, 2022, the department of Commerce at St. Xavier’s College-Jaipur, in collaboration with Catholic Syrian Bank-Jaipur, organized a financial literacy session that the college has accepted as part of the Unnat Bharat Abhiyan (UBA). The main goal of orchestrating this session was to raise awareness among the villagers about proper money management, opening bank, accounts, and maintaining a more stable financial position at home.

The department of Commerce and Business Administration of St. Xavier’s College, Jaipur hosted its most awaited fourth edition of 2-day event Envision X Vendesto on the theme “Odyssey of a Mile to a Million” on 17.11.22.and 18.11.22. The two-day fest commenced with the opening ceremony followed by the events Sharks Tank, Mad Over Marketing, Biz-Tech, The Throne MUN, Ad-Edict, Corporate Roadies and The CSR Plan on day 1. The second day had the events Brand-race, Throne MUN, Corporate Roadies, Samajik Nukkad, Recruitedia and the event concluded with the Closing Ceremony followed by the cultural night. The event also hosted more than 1000 participants. The event was graced by state renowned dignitaries like Ankit Sharma (Relationship Manager), Vandana Chandana (Founder and Creative Director), Nakshatra Sain (Entrepreneur and Influencer) and many more renowned personalities.

On 21st December 2022, Fintech Commerce club organized an Industrial Visit to Clay Craft India, a well-known Ceramic tableware manufacturer who not only comprises the majority of tableware exports from India but also sells locally to keep the handicraft industry alive.

On 19th January, 2023, we the Fintech Commerce Club at St Xavier’s College, Jaipur, in collaboration with Intellectual Property India, is a subordinate office of the Govt of India & administers the Indian law for Patents, Designs, Trade Marks & Geographical Indications organized a National Banking Conclave. This conclave has not only set a milestone about the road map of the banking and finance sector but also set a new archetype for national events. The event was centered around the theme of “Building Banking Resilience: The Way Forward” Right after the commencement of the event, student moderators and the teacher body greeted the adulated panelists Mr. Mukesh Kumar, Dr. Iqbal Singh, Dr. Ravi Modani, Mr. Devendra Singh, CS Anshul Jain and Mr. Kush Beejal. Ms. Chhavi Garg gave a foreword in the light of the recent changes in the banking sector as well as emanating latitudes in the field of intellectual property.

The Department of Commerce, St Xavier's College, Jaipur organized the two days Taxation Workshop titled - “Practical & Policy Aspects of Taxation - "Basics & Beyond”;  on 24th & 25th January, 2023. The workshop focused on the new tax reforms for the startups and improved the knowledge of the tax laws and systems pertaining to the various markets as well as to explore various techniques in tax planning. The resource person for Day 1 was CA PARESH GUPTA who is Youth Motivator, Founder & CEO - (GCEC), 6 Times TEDx Speaker & Startup Mentor, Special Consultant to Govt. Of Rajasthan. The interactive and extensive discussion highlighted the importance and impact of taxation on Startups.

To Bridge the gap between theory and practical learning the department has started the Add-on course on Tally. This course has enabled students to understand the accounting through Tally software. These specialized, career-focused courses will prepare students for self-employment and can be taken concurrently with degree-level formal education because they are planned in a way to guarantee coordination between the two in terms of time-schedule and orientation. The students will graduate after three years with a traditional degree in the stream of commerce as well as other streams and a Certificate for the successfully finished Add-On Course. This course, which has a minimum of 30 hours of lectures, will aid them in improving their technical abilities.

The department offers a bridge course in Basic Accountancy for non-commerce background students. The main objective of this course is to bring non-commerce students at par with those who had accounts in 12th standard. This will help non-commerce students to have a basic understanding of the accounting concepts before their regular classes begin. This course enables the study of basic accounts and applying them to business theory in general. It aims to provide the accounting foundations necessary for business, and finance. It will help in mastering basic concepts of financial and business accounting.
